JFT Sensei

About us

We only teach one thing, and we teach it properly

JFT Sensei exists for people with a specific goal and a real deadline: pass the exam, get the visa, go to Japan. Everything we do is shaped by that.

Why we started

Most of our students are not studying Japanese for pleasure. They are studying after a full shift, on a phone, with a test date and a plane ticket riding on the result. General Japanese courses are not built for that. They move at the pace of a textbook, not the pace of a deadline.

So we built the opposite: a course that starts from your test date and works backwards, taught in a language you already think in, by teachers who have marked thousands of mock papers and can tell you within one mock exactly which section is costing you the pass.

We also tell students when they are not ready. A test fee is real money, and booking too early is the most expensive mistake we see.

How we teach

Honest about the timeline

If you need nine months, we will say nine months. Nobody is served by an optimistic answer that costs you a test fee.

Bilingual by design

New grammar is introduced in your language, practised in Japanese, and reviewed in both. Confusion should come from the Japanese, not from the explanation.

Measured, not guessed

Mock scores drive the study plan. If listening is your weak section, your week changes — we do not keep teaching the syllabus in order.

Built for working people

Evening and weekend classes in your timezone, a recording of every lesson, and drills short enough to do on a commute.
