Free mock exams
Free JFT-Basic Mock Tests
Each one is 48 questions on one 60-minute clock, run under the real exam’s rules. Sit them in order: each set has its own focus, and the last is the hardest.
- Free — no sign-up, no login
- 48 questions · 60 minutes per test
- Questions in Japanese, instructions in this page’s language
- An estimated score at the end — not an official one
How to use them
Sit one set a week under real conditions — headphones, a desk, an hour nobody can interrupt. Read the answer guide afterwards, not before. Two results above 200 a week apart is the signal to book the real test.

A sample question, with the teacher’s explanation
Mock exam 1 · question 1 · Script and Vocabulary
店でお金をはらったあとで、もらう紙です。何をいくらで買ったか、書いてあります。
せつめいを読んで、いちばんいいことばを一つえらんでください。
- 1. おつり
- 2. レシート
- 3. きっぷ
Show the answer
Answer: 2 — レシート
A レシート (receipt) is the paper you get after paying, and it lists what you bought and the price. おつり is the change you get back, and a きっぷ is a train or bus ticket — neither lists your shopping.
How to review a mock
- Sit the whole test first, under real conditions, with no answers open.
- Write down every question you got wrong or guessed.
- Read the explanation for each one, then the guide for that skill.
- Drill the weak skill for a few days before the next full set.

What the score means — and what it does not
Each test ends with an estimated score on the 10–250 scale and the CEFR band it falls in: A1 from 145, A2.1 from 175, A2.2 from 200. The real exam converts answers by statistical equating, which the Japan Foundation does not publish. Our estimate tells you roughly which side of 200 you are on. It is not a prediction of your official result.
