Mock exam 3 — Nursing care
48 questions on one 60-minute clock, run under the real exam’s rules: audio that plays twice and never again, and no going back once listening has started.
Before you begin
This is an exam, not a quiz. It is shorter than the real test and behaves the same way in every other respect — which is the part most people have never rehearsed.
- One clock, 60 minutes
- 48 questions across all four sections. No section has its own limit, so how you spend the 60 minutes is your decision, exactly as it is on the day.
- Audio plays twice, then stops
- Listening clips start on their own and play twice. There is no play button, no pause and no replay, because the real test has none.
- No going back in listening
- Once you leave a listening question it is closed. You can still move back and forward inside the other sections.
- Three options, never four
- In this set the listening options are short Japanese sentences. Read all three while the situation is read out, then choose as you listen.
What you need
- Headphones, with the volume set before you start
- A laptop if you have one — the real test is at a desk, on a screen
- 60 uninterrupted minutes. There is no pause button
One of our ten free mock exams, written in-house at A2 level in the format of JFT-Basic. The listening is recorded with synthetic voices. Nothing here is reproduced from Japan Foundation papers.

What this number is, and is not
The real test converts answers to the 10–250 scale by equating, and that conversion is the Japan Foundation’s own — it is not published, so nobody outside it can reproduce a reported score. The number above is a straight-line approximation from your 48 answers: close enough to steer the next month of study, not close enough to book a test date on. Sit a second mock in the same week and believe the pair, not either one.
Every question
Answers and explanations
Every question in this set with the answer, why the other two options are wrong, and the listening transcripts. In English.
Want explanations instead?
The practice test is untimed, has an explanation for every answer in your language, and is a gentler place to start.
There are nine more of these
This is one of ten full-length mocks. Our students work through the rest with a teacher reading the section breakdowns, which is where the points actually come from. Book a free class and we will set your next one.
